What early childhood educators can do to encourage early literacy skills

  • Expose children to books, games, the alphabet, and developmentally appropriate activities that promote a love for reading.
  • Use music, flannel board stories puppets, role play and finger plays.
  • Teach children as young as toddlers the appropriate way to handle books.
