Family & Victim Advocacy 101 for 2009 |
Huntsville, AL
Tuition: $549
This training is designed for Family or Victim Advocates that work with children who are victims of crime and/or the child’s non-offending caregivers. Historically, the criminal justice system was designed for adults, and can be confusing and frightening for children. This training will concentrate on the knowledge, attitudes, and skills needed to successfully implement a Family and/or Victim Advocacy program.
The major components of this training include:
- Dynamics of non-offending caregivers
- Building community acceptance
- Program description and operation
- Integrating the program with existing services
- Working with the multidisciplinary investigative team
- Rapport building and bonding with clients
- Implementing a support group for caregivers
- Accessing community services
- Tools and techniques for intervening with caregivers
The fee for each training session is $549. Participants are responsible for all transportation, lodging and some meals (lunches will be provided). Early registration is encouraged. More about CEUs.
