Research Library Collections

The NCAC Research Library is a working collection of resources that encompass the needs of researchers and practitioners in most endeavors related to child abuse and neglect. The knowledge resources pertaining to child abuse and neglect derive from several disciplines and professional specialties, as well as interdisciplinary subjects. The core resources of the NCAC Research Library focus primarily on child maltreatment prevention, investigation, litigation, therapy, training and research. Those core subjects are supplemented by allied resources drawn from a broad spectrum of subjects, including psychology and psychiatry, sociology and social work, law and criminology, medicine, and management.

The collections of the NCAC Research Library are comprised of books and other monographic documents, professional journals and other periodical literature, and audio/visual materials.

Relevant, highly-focused collections are an important effort of the Research Library. Resources relevant to child welfare and violence in Native American populations, along with other multicultural issues, are of particular interest. Resources that document the development and evolution of the NCAC and the Children's Advocacy Center movement from its inception are an obvious strength of the collections.
