Research Library Services

The NCAC Research Library offers an array of services designed to meet the information needs of professionals. All of the services are available to NCAC staff and interns. Some are also available to professionals beyond NCAC and to the public.

The NCAC Research Library is aware of the sensitive nature of circumstances surrounding requests for information regarding child abuse and neglect. Please consult the Research Library Privacy Policy.

Online Search Services

The Research Library conducts searches of the literature germane to child maltreatment and the work of Children's Advocacy Centers. Beyond NCAC, this service is available to guests at the NCAC, including professionals attending NCAC training courses, and to anyone doing on-site research in the Library.

Reference Services

The Research Library prepares readings packages of publications designed to assist with practice and decision making, locates factual and scholarly information in response to expressed needs, and provides proactive information services in support of the research and programs of the organization.

Table of Contents Service

The Research Library monitors an extensive list of professional journals in disciplines of interest, including psychology and psychiatry, sociology and social work, law and litigation, criminology and investigation, prevention and social services, and research and evaluation. Recipients indicate the journals they wish to monitor and receive tables of contents with abstracts when new issues are published. Beyond NCAC, this service is available only to partner libraries.

Information Management Education

The Research Library offers training techniques for locating, retrieving and managing personal information resources, including strategies for searching bibliographic databases, locating information on the Internet, and use of EndNote. This service is not available beyond NCAC.
