  • Third National Incidence Study on Child Abuse and Neglect: Executive Summary - A concise summary of the results of the congressionally mandated Third National Incidence Study of Child Abuse and Neglect (NIS-3) completed in 1988. The NIS-3 findings are based on a nationally representative sample of over 5,600 professionals in 842 agencies serving 42 counties.
  • National Data Analysis System - Child Abuse and Neglect - Provides access to states' child welfare and related data for the most recent years available. Data pertain to children who are reported as maltreated to child welfare agencies and the estimated two million children who are referred for investigation each year. Users of NDAS can develop their own tables and graphs for a state or group of states in a single year or across years.
  • National Data Analysis System - Child Abuse and Neglect Fatalities - Child abuse and neglect fatalities represent the deaths of children and are often the focus of attention to determine if child welfare systems and communities are working effectively to protect children. The data accessible here pertains to children who have died at the hands of their caretakers.
