Southern Regional's Core Trainings are offered each year in Huntsville, Alabama on the campus of the National Children's Advocacy Center. All trainings are open to CAC staff and multidisciplinary team members across the United States. Click on the links (left screen) for details of each training and to register online.
Registrants are reponsible for all costs associated with meals, lodging and travel. The hotel designated for each training provides government per diem, complimentary breakfast and shuttle to the training. It is recommended that you make hotel reservations early to receive the special rate.

Law and CACs
The Law and CAC workshop is a one-day workshop specifically designed for Children’s Advocacy Centers. It describes the many legal issues that confront Children’s Advocacy Centers when their organizations and employees are brought into the legal process in criminal litigation as well as civil litigation and family court matters. The fast-paced session identifies, discuss and analyze matters related to responding to records demands; preparing to testify; establishing a CAC “legal system” tailored to individual CACs; reviewing important statutes and case law that impact CACs and children; creating effective legal protocols that support MDT members.

The clinician must be an individual who are master’s or doctoral level (human services/mental health field) and will be implementing TF-CBT at the target site working with children ages 3 – 18. (“Target site” refers to the CAC programs or locations where TF-CBT will be implemented through this training.) Interns are not suitable candidates, however provisionally licensed clinicians will be permitted if under the supervision of a licensed clinician. Continue for more information...
