Please note the different schedules for the upcoming trainings:
The 2022 NCAC Forensic Interviewing of Children Training is a five-day curriculum that meets Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday (Central Time).
The 2023 NCAC Forensic Interviewing of Children Training is a four-day curriculum with 6-hours of pre-work that meets Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Central Time).
The virtual training is held live with participation mandatory in each class session. Some additional coursework including reading, viewing videos, and knowledge checks (pre- and post-tests) are also required outside the virtual classroom time.
Participants of both 2023 in-person and 2023 virtual training are expected to complete 6-hours of prework, consisting of selected readings and interactive recorded exercises to be done at their own pace, prior to the first official day of training. This material, located in the NCACvtc, will be available 2 weeks prior to the first official day of training.
The training manual and worksheets to be used during the training will be available through the NCACvtc to be downloaded prior to training attendance. On-site printing is not available.
Each participant needs access to the following to fully participate in the virtual training:
- Computer: Not all applications can be fully accessed on mobile devices, therefore, a computer is recommended; shared devices are not recommended for use, especially during the interview practicum
- Strong Internet Connection: Test your internet speed
- Noise-canceling headset/earbuds with a microphone
- Ability to download the Zoom app (virtual training will be conducted via Zoom)
- Training participants will have access to the National Children's Advocacy Center Virtual Training Center (NCACvtc)
The in-person training will be held at the National Children's Advocacy Center:
The training building is the stone building located on the corner of Howe Ave. NE and Dallas St. NE. The entrance faces Dallas Street.
Lunch will be provided each day of the training. A kitchenette with refrigerator is available for attendees who choose to bring their own food.
Flight arrangements should be scheduled so that the trainee arrives the day before training begins since training begins at 9:00 a.m. on the first day. It is also recommended that departure flights be scheduled 6:00 p.m. or later on the last day of training to allow adequate transportation time to the airport.
Important Note: Training classes are subject to cancellation in the event of insufficient registrations. Therefore, DO NOT make non-refundable travel arrangements until you receive both a “Preliminary Registration” e-mail AND a “Final Confirmation” e-mail from NCAC that the training will take place (approximately 4 to 6 weeks before the training). In the event of cancellation due to insufficient registrations, 100% of the registration fee will be refunded.
