NCAC Out and About April 2013
In April, NCAC Executive Director, Chris Newlin, gave a 2-hour presentation for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, DC on the Efficacy of Children’s Advocacy Centers and Emerging Issues in the Forensic Interviewing Field, in order to enhance their collaboration with Safe Shores CAC and MDT serving the District of Columbia. There is keen interest in implementing innovative solutions to the challenges of investigating child abuse, and this meeting led to Chris Newlin being invited to speak at an upcoming Child Abuse Conference being coordinated by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in June 2013.
Chris Newlin also traveled to Hot Springs, AR in April to Speak at the Cooper-Anthony Mercy Children’s Advocacy Center, Child Abuse Rally and deliver a presentation for the Central Arkansas CACs and MDTs titled, “Grooming: Making You See What I Want You to See and Believe.”
In April, the NCAC spent two weeks partnered with Clark County in Las Vegas, NV and conducted Basic Forensic Interview trainings for law enforcement officers, child protective service workers, and forensic interviewers. The trainings taught class personnel how to conduct legally-sound forensic interviews utilizing research-based and practice-informed techniques. The goal of the NCAC is to meet the specific needs of our training partners and support the highest quality intervention for maltreated children.
