Healthy Families North Alabama is a parent support program for first-time parents living in Madison County. Parenting is a difficult and demanding job that is made easier with positive support system. Healthy Families offers family support and education services that begin in the last trimester of the pregnancy or before the baby is one month old. A Family Support Worker from Healthy Families meets with parents in their home sharing effective parenting and child development information. Healthy Families workers encourage parents through the challenges of parenting. The program is voluntary, and parents may continue with services until their child begins Kindergarten.

Testimonials

"Beth" had just turned 14 when she had her baby. Through Healthy Families she found motivation and stability. Her NCAC Family Support Worker encouraged her to stay in school and focus on one step at a time. She graduated high school with honors, was assisted in applying for scholarships, attended college and earned a degree in four years. At age 22 she became full-time employee of Huntsville Hospital. She and her eight-year-old child have full health insurance through work, a very comfortable lifestyle, and a bright future.
