Meet the September 2023 Community Superhero: Jess Ahrens – National Children’s Advocacy Center Skip to content

Jess Ahrens of Lincoln Village Ministry exemplifies the term “superhero”. While her professional title is Field Staff Director, Jess’s role at the ministry is more than a career, it’s personal to her. Over the past 5 years, she has dedicated her time to mentoring and serving the families receiving care through the Lincoln Village Ministry. “It is truly a blessing to see eternal hope found and generational curses broken,” said Jess. The National Children’s Advocacy Center and Redstone Federal Credit Union are honored to share Jess’s story and proud to share a community with the Lincoln Village Ministry.

The Lincoln Village Ministry aims to share their faith and to serve through educating, sheltering, comforting, and equipping the Lincoln community. As the Field Staff Director, Jess spends her days aiding and providing resources to families in crisis, speaking light and positivity over her team of neighborhood coordinators, analyzing community needs, and adjusting outreach strategies to meet those needs. “I believe real healing, lasting hope, and generational transformation happen in the context of relationships and action that addresses the entire person, not just the symptoms of their circumstances,” said Jess.

Currently, the Lincoln Village Ministry is home to 45 families and is now in the process of renovating 15 more housing units for families in need. As more families join the Lincoln community, they hope to also expand their team with professionals who are passionate about the mission of the ministry. During this season of growth, Jess and her team will be incorporating a ministry journal for their residents to record their growth and progress throughout their time in the Lincoln community.

As humble as she is impactful, Jess gives all the glory for her success, and the success of Lincoln Village Ministry, to her Lord- Jesus Christ. “There is no question that my superpower is the Holy Spirit. Depending on Him moment by moment to give me the grace to help families in crisis see the everlasting hope in front of them”. Whether it’s through housing or their faith-based education programs Jess and the Lincoln Village Ministry go above and beyond to mentor, minister, and offer aid to the needs of children and families in our community.
