Virtual trainings are held live with participation mandatory in each class session.
Training Materials: Courses may include additional coursework such as selected readings viewing videos, interactive recorded exercises, and/or knowledge checks to be completed outside the classroom time.
Technology Requirements:
ach participant needs access to the following to fully participate in the virtual training:
- Computer: Not all applications can be fully accessed on mobile devices, therefore, a computer is recommended; shared devices are not recommended for use, especially during the interview practicum
- Strong Internet Connection: Test your internet speed
- Web-camera
- Noise-canceling headset/earbuds with a microphone
- Ability to download the Zoom app (virtual training will be conducted via Zoom)
- Training participants will have access to the National Children's Advocacy Center Virtual Training Center (NCACvtc)
In-Person Training Information:
The in-person training will be held at the National Children's Advocacy Center:
210 Pratt Ave. NE, Huntsville, AL 35801
The training building is the stone building located on the corner of Howe Ave. NE and Dallas St. NE. The entrance faces Dallas Street.
Lunch will be provided each day of the training. A kitchenette with refrigerator is available for attendees who choose to bring their own food.
Travel Information: Flight arrangements should be scheduled so that the trainee arrives the day before training begins since training begins at 9:00 a.m. on the first day. It is also recommended that departure flights be scheduled 6:00 p.m. or later on the last day of training to allow adequate transportation time to the airport.
Important Note: Training classes are subject to cancellation in the event of insufficient registrations. Therefore, DO NOT make non-refundable travel arrangements until you receive both a “Preliminary Registration” e-mail AND a “Final Confirmation” e-mail from NCAC that the training will take place (approximately 4 to 6 weeks before the training). In the event of cancellation due to insufficient registrations, 100% of the registration fee will be refunded.
Ground Transportation Information: Transportation arrangements are the responsibility of the trainee. Nearby hotels, such as Embassy Suites, may provide shuttle service, at their discretion.
Trainees are responsible for all transportation expenses incurred, such as but not limited to, flight, car rental, Uber, Lyft, and taxi, when traveling to and from the training site.
Lodging: Nearby lodging recommendations include the Embassy Suites and 106 Jefferson which are both approximately one mile from the NCAC.
The NCAC does not endorse the services provided by these hotels as being greater than those of other providers.
Trainees are responsible for making reservations, in addition to all lodging expenses incurred.
Certificate of Completion: Pre-requisites and homework must be completed as assigned in the NCAC Virtual Training Center. A Certification of Completion will be awarded to participants who attend the training in its entirety and complete all assignments.
Special Accommodations: This training is presented in English; the NCAC does not provide translation services.
