NCAC Out and About April 2015

In April, NCAC Executive Director, Chris Newlin, presented “The Potential for the Children’s Advocacy Center/Multidisciplinary Team Process to Prevent Child Abuse and Neglect Fatalities in Families Known to the Child Protective Services System,” with Teresa Huizar at the Commission to Eliminate Child Abuse and Neglect Fatalities meeting in Memphis, TN.

Chris then attended the Multidisciplinary Team Coordinators Conference in Petit Jean, AR where he presented, “Practices: An Overview of the Multidisciplinary Team Response to Child Abuse,” and, “Child Advocacy Centers and Sex Trafficking of Children: What are CACs doing? What should CACs be doing?” Also in April, Chris presented, “A Multidisciplinary Team Case and Panel Discussion,” and “I Think This Kid Needs Therapy: What is the Best Option?,” at the CACs of MS One Loud Voice Conference, in Biloxi, MS.

Chris wrapped up the month delivering the Keynote address, “The Effects of Childhood Exposure to Domestic Violence,” and the presentation, “Grooming – Making You See What I Want You to See and Believe,” at the 23rd Annual Breaking The Cycle of Abuse Multi-disciplinary Conference on Child Abuse Prevention, in Hamilton, AL.

In April, NCAC Senior Trainer, Linda Cordisco Steele, traveled to Michigan to present, “Introduction of Evidence in the Forensic Interview,” and “Interviewing Preschoolers,” at the Michigan Chapter of the National Children’s Alliance 5th Annual MDT Professional Development Conference.

Also in April, NCAC Trainer, Andra Chamberlin conducted an “Interviewing Children who Witness Violence” training in Pennsylvania.
