NCAC Out and About March 2014

In March, NCAC Executive Director, Chris Newlin, delivered the plenary presentation at the 5th Annual Champions for Children Conference in Chicago, Illinois. Chris also presented two workshops: one titled, “Grooming: Making You See What I Want You to See and Believe,” and the other “Poly-victimization: Another Step Away from the Silos.”

Also in March, Chris Newlin presented, “Recent Research Affecting Child Abuse Investigations and Prosecutions,” at the 30th National Symposium on Child Abuse in Huntsville, Alabama. At the 3rd Annual Northwest Arizona Infant & Toddler Mental Health Symposium, in Laughlin, Nevada, Chris presented, “Children’s Advocacy Centers: An Evidence-Based Multidisciplinary Child Abuse Response,” and “Brain Development and the Impact of Trauma in Young Children.”

In March, NCAC Senior Trainer, Linda Cordisco Steele, traveled to Maryland to conduct an Extended Forensic Interview Training. Linda also presented two workshops at the 30th National Symposium on Child Abuse in Huntsville, Alabama titled, “Telling the Story of What Happened: Increasing Children’s Narrative Description in the Forensic Interview,” and “Working Toward Consensus in Child Forensic Interviewing.” NCAC Trainer, Andra Chamberlin, also presented, “More Than We Know: Poly-victimization and the Need for Comprehensive Interviews,” and co-presented with Linda, “Working Toward Consensus in Child Forensic Interviewing,” at the 30th National Symposium on Child Abuse.
